HYALURONIC ACID
The application of Fillers has become one of the most requested procedures in the area of Aesthetic Medicine. It is one of the best anti-aging treatments at present, this being minimally invasive. With age, the skin thins and loses subcutaneous fat. The result is the combination of loose skin with loss of fat that supports it. The skin is thinned and furrows and wrinkles appear. Fillers work by returning volume to facial tissues that have been lost with age or simply want to contour to beautify. They can be applied to the face or body.
At The Aesthetic Clinic the only type of filler we use is Hyaluronic Acid ( AH) since it is the safest. HA is a substance produced by the body, when applied it does not produce an allergy since it is recognized as its own. Safety comes first. In the past biopolymers such as silicones were used, animal and human collagen were also used. The first AH was mined from the cockscomb with certain disadvantages. Today the HA that we apply is synthetic and has advantages being easy and safe to apply. This substance does not produce allergic reactions or granulomas if it is not mixed with biopolymers to reduce its cost. It is common to receive patients with complications, who do not know what substance was applied to them in the past. Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxin. It works by blocking the nervous stimulus necessary for the muscle to contract. Therefore we can say that it relaxes the muscles of the treated area.
In the case of fading of expression lines as an anti-aging treatment, the toxin will temporarily relax (2-4 months) the skin of the treated area. The main indication of botulinum toxin is the PREVENTION of expression lines and can be used for this purpose from before 30 years.
In aesthetic medicine it is used as an anti-aging treatment but actually has a long list of non-aesthetic indications. Botulinum toxin was first approved by the FDA for the treatment of strabismus since relaxing the stronger eye muscles achieves eye alignment.
